Vibrant Mozambique is best known for its tropical beach destinations. Here are a few of our favourites |
Bazaruto Archipeligo |
Opposite the coastal town of Vilankulo lies a chain of five islands. Once part of the mainland, this 'spit' broke away from the African continent 25,000 years ago to form the Archipelago, comprising three larger islands of Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, as well as the smaller Banque and Santa Carolina. |
Quirimba Islands |
Just off Pemba at Mozambique's northern border lies a cluster of small islands amongst which are three of our favourites - Matemo, Mejumbe and Ibo. |
Inhaca Island |
Inhaca Island is the closest island getaway, situated in the bay of Maputo, just 40km from the capital. Inhaca Island is a true 'African island' - it is not a tropical island, like the islands in the Bazaruto Archipelago, but its close proximity to Maputo, and the reasonable rates make it a worthwhile island holiday. |
Inhambane |
Situated 485km north of Maputo Inhambane is set in one of the most picturesque areas in Mozambique, with spectacular views of pristine beaches and the crstal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. |
