HoyoHoyo Safari Lodge is located along the banks of the Mluwati River within the Kruger National Park. Accommodation consists of 6 traditional Tsonga-style chalets each with their own private deck & open-air shower. Activities include safaris in 4 x 4 vehicles, bird watching, self-drive in the Kruger National Park, guided safari walks by prior arrangement. No children under 12 years.

Where is Hoyo Hoyo?

Set on the banks of the Mluwatu River within a private concession of the famed Kruger Park, Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge exudes African spirit of warmth and welcoming with traditional rondawel rooms featuring splashes of colourful fabrics and earthy tones in the interiors.

Facilities at Hoyo Hoyo

  • Six rondawel chalets are created in tradtional Tsonga style and feature brightly coloured walls, traditional ornaments and little embellishments on lamps, door handles and mirrors.
  • Each chalet has an en suite bathroom featuring a stone bath as well as an outdoor shower.
  • Private deck with table and chairs lookout over the bush.
  • Rooms feature a kingsize bed, air conditioning and tea/coffee station
  • Well treatments with professionally trained local therapists, supporting local female empowerment initiative.

If you would like the experience the Kruger National Park on foot, or would like to spend time focusing on the smaller things out in the bush or the extensive birdlife, the guiding team will ensure you of an unforgettable wildlife experience.

Child policy

0 – 11 years: Not permitted at the lodge unless the lodge is booked on an exclusive use basis.
12 years and older: Considered as adults and accommodated in their own rooms. Pay full adult rates and are permitted on safari.

By Road via Orpen Gate (approx 1.5 - 2 hours from the gate to the Lodge)
By Road by Kruger Gate approx 2.5 -3 hours from the gate to the Lodge)
By Air - SA Airlink to Skukuza.
Road transfers from either Hoedspruit Airport or Skukuza Airport are booked on request at time of reservation. Transfer rates are as indicated below are based on a minimum of two people and are quoted per person one way.

Covid 19 procedures at Hoyo Hoyo

A 20-step protocol has been introduced at Hoyo Hoyo including cleaning and disinfection procedures, increased attention to safety in communal spaces, protective equipment, and updated training for team members are included in the new protocols. These protocols describe specific processes and measures that are designed to make guests confident.


Procedures include:

  • Temperature checks will be done on arrival and daily for each guest.
  • Implementation of physical distancing measures throughout the Lodge
  • Increased cleaning and disinfecting frequency throughout the lodge, paying attention to high-touch items.
  • Protective screens at the front desk
  • Installation of alcohol-based hand sanitizing and glove stations near the front entrance, restaurant and public area.
  • Clean and disinfected keys upon check-in. Disinfection will be done in front of the guest.
  • Display at all rooms when full sanitizing have been completed.
  • Each guest room is provided with a travel-size hand sanitizer.
