The Maplanga Africa Zambia Fun Top 10

  1. Fly a microlight over Mosi - Oa - Tunya - Batoka Sky fly every day, a truly awesome way to fully experience one of the seven wonders of the world. Take the helicopter if you may be feeling a bit wimpish, also good fun but not as "spiritual.

  2. See Africa's 2nd biggest migration of wildebeest and zebra, followed by hungry predators @ the almost inaccessible Luiwa Plains, head on up to North Western Zambia around mid November, a spectacle not to be missed, sense of humour and strong vehicle required!

  3. Swim in the famed Devils Pool, a natural "Cuddle Puddle" pool right on the lip of Vic Falls. Get the timing right or you may end up going over arriving on Bob's side of the Zambezi river!

  4. Smell the burning bush (or is it some other substance) and take in the special winter light that only seems to occur in Zambia, The Real Africa.

  5. Walk over Knifes Edge Bridge on the Zambian side of Vic Falls, during high water season- get wet, wet, wet from the spray.

  6. Go leopard spotting in the South Luangwa National Park. This park reputedly has the highest number of leopards in one area anywhere in Southern Africa, sightings almost guaranteed.

  7. Grip a real beer bottle and down a Mosi Lager, not your average woosey twist off cap SAB rubbish. Savour the crisp refreshing beer that shouts out "Truly Zambian!". Should be imbibed in copious amounts on an afternoon Zambezi Booze Cruise.

  8. Raft the mighty Zambezi from the Zambian side, not much different to the Zim side except for the easy walk down to the "put in" through an ancient tropical rain forest... muuuuch better!

  9. Go scuba diving in the mystical "Sunken Lakes", situated in the Copperbelt, take all your own gear and a 4x4, not your average Sodwana experience, beware of the mythical underwater snake, Kariba's Nyami Nyami, presumed lost again.
