Chobe National Park is Botswana's second largest national park and stretches from the north eastern Chobe gateway at Kasane to the Linyanti marshes in the north and the Savuti in the west.
Best known for its massive elephant population, with numbers topping over 120 000, Chobe probably has the single largest continuing elephant population in the world. The elephants congregate in the Kasane and Linyanti areas in the dry months and then disperse when the summer rains come. Some herds remain around the Chobe River in the rainy months it a very rewarding area regardless of the season. Chobe National Park encompasses the Linyanti as well as Savute , but its the area close to the small town of Kasane that is most recognised as 'Chobe'. Being only an hours drive from Victoria Falls it's a very popular safari stop after a holiday in Victoria Falls. The wildlife in the park is prolific making it a really worthwhile inclusion into a safari itinerary however the main day trip route in the area close to Kasane can get very congested so we advise staying inside the park or in a private concession that borders the park for a more exclusive experience. We have a number of selected accommodation gems that we like to offer our clients based on our own personal travel experiences. |
